Proud Marines of MWCS48:
First of all, as an American civilian, I'd like to extend my deepest and most sincere thanks to each of you for your service; keeping the flames of freedom burning brightly on the home front, and working diligently in the pursuit of spreading those flames throughout the world.

As Marines, you are far-and-away THE very best among our military might, leaving the rest to merely wish they were able to have earned the proud title, United States Marine.

The fleet now needs you in a small, nondescript place on the globe; Djibouti, Africa. Terrorism however, knows no boundaries, as we learned here at home on September 11, 2001; and equally as significant, in yet another nondescript place called Beirut, Lebanon on October 23, 1983.

I believe that the mission that awaits each of you, while not appearing on the nightly news, is of EXTREME importance in the battle that rages on against all in the free world.

Again, thanks to each of you for your unselfish, devoted service, and know that my thoughts and prayers, along with those of all Americans, will remain with you until your safe return.

To MY Marine, let me just say that there are no words to describe the pride that I have in you.

And to that very special Marine wife, please know that I consider you to be every bit a hero in your own right; with your mission equally as important as that of your/our Marine.

God bless and keep you all... as He continues to bless America.

"A Father's Prayer"

Build me a son, oh Lord,
Who will be strong enough to know when he is weak,
And brave enough to face himself when he is afraid;
One who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat,
And humble and gentle in victory.

Build me a son, oh Lord,
Whose wishes will not take the place of deeds;
A son who will know You -
And that to know himself is the fountainhead of knowledge.

Lead him, I pray, not in the paths of ease and comfort,
But under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge.
Here, let him learn to stand up in the storm;
Here, let him learn compassion for those who fail.

Build me a son,
Whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high;
A son who will master himself,
Before he seeks to master other men;
One who will reach into the future,
Yet never forget the past.

And after all these things are his,
Add, I pray, enough sense of humor,
So that he may always be serious,
Yet never take himself too seriously.
Give him humility, so that he may always remember
The simplicity of true greatness;
The open mind of true wisdom;
The meekness of true strength.

Then I, his father, will dare to whisper:
"I have not lived in vain."

Author, Gen. Douglas MacArthur

God WILL bless you, keep you, and watch over you, son.

With love & pride,
Semper Fi

My Wish

I hope the days come easy and moments pass slow,
and each road leads you where you want to go,
and if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
if it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but you never forget,
all the ones who love you, and the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
and you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
and always give more than you take.

But More than anything, Yeah, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish. Yeah.
